1921: The Yankees, the Giants & the Battle for Baseball Supremacy in New York
Lyle Spatz and Steve Steinberg visit the Hall of Fame to discuss their new book, '1921: The Yankees, the Giants, & the Battle for Baseball Supremacy in New York.' The book looks at baseball at the dawn of the roaring twenties, as it struggled to overcome two of its darkest moments: the death of a player during a Major League game and the revelations of the 1919 Black Sox scandal. At this critical juncture for baseball, two teams emerged to fight for the future of the game. They were also battling for the hearts and minds of New Yorkers as the city rose in dramatic fashion to the pinnacle of the baseball world. A book signing will follow the program, with books available in the museum's book store, located in the Library Atrium.

American Memory: Recalling the Past in Folk Art
Folk artists express through their art the ordinary and extraordinary events that have shaped their lives and communities. Through the process of creating, folk artists make a permanent record of their cultural ideals, experiences, and community heritage. Today, these artworks serve as documents of American culture and the lives of the artists. We see in these objects a universal desire, conscious or not, to create a permanent statement of life, belief, and memory.
